Batumi Navigation Teaching University library is the training-information service center of the University and provides organization of library and information activity and usage of library collection taking into consideration of information needs and interests of users.
BNTU Library collection includes printed and on-line versions of textbooks, teaching aids, readers etc. As well as, online collection includes audio- and video materials on electronic media. BNTU library collection includes.
Library book collection includes more than 16900 unites of books in Georgian, Russian and English languages, including 145 units on electronic media (CD).
Library has its online catalogue: Open Biblio. BNTUlibrary user may use e-library services, search and book required literature at bntu.ini.ge.
BNTU students and staff may also use International library “Witherbys Library”, which includes recent releases of IMO in the field of maritime industry.
Batumi Navigation Teaching University library has comfortable reading hall, equipped with computers, and the meeting room where meetings and group activities are conducted.

- Monday-Friday – 09:00-20:00
- Saturday -09:00-15:00
Llibrary is open non-stop.
Rules for use of library
1. Usage of BNTU library:
- Library is available for BNTU students, vocational students and BNTU staff for 6 days in week; library working hours: 9:00-20:00 (Monday-Friday, without breaks), Saturday- 9:00-15:00;
- Resources of library collection may be used in reading hall, as well as out of reading hall;
- Library provides access to library material resources (computers with internet access , printers, copying and scanning devices) and international digital library network;
- A person willing to use BNTU library collections shall be registered in BNTU library. Registration requires ID Card (with the indication of residential address) and document, certifying student’s/vocational student’s status (for students/vocational students of other educational institutions);
- A person willing to use the library should read and understand the rules for library usage and prove it by his/her signature. After registration a reader’s card is opened;
- Persons not registered as members of the library shall have no access to it; this involves persons, who do not have readers’ cards;
- A reader’s card may not be used by another person;
- In case of violation of library rules, a reader’s card shall be taken away;
- In case of loss of reader’s card or change in a reader’s name, address, identity card, a person is obliged to timely notify a library employee.
2. Lending and return of books/other materials. Receiving materials in e-Format:
- Books, audio and video materials, materials on e-carriers (hereinafter referred to as -Materials), which are maintained in the library in one exemplar, shall not be taken away. Such books/materials may be used only in reading room of the library;
- To obtain materials in e-format, a reader shall apply to BNTU library (by coming in BNTU library or sending of order at BNTU library e-mail). The following rules are applied in BNTU: 1) A reader shall accurately indicate in the order author(s) of textbook/other, title of textbook/other, publishing year and numbers of pages that he/she wants to receive in e-format; 2) e-Order shall be sent from personal e-mail, indicated during registration of reader’s card, or via corresponding service of BNTU education process management system; 2) If the order is sent before 14:00 of day, the material is delivered to a reader on the same business day before 20:00. If the order is sent after 14:00 of day, the material is delivered to a reader no later than 14:00 of next business day. If the order is sent on non-business days, the material is delivered before 20:00 of first business day; 3) A reader shall consider that complete textbook/other in e-format is not delivered;
- A reader can copy of the parts of a book or make its whole copy if such action will not damage or destroy it. Copying/attempting to copy of whole material shall not be allowed;
- Copies obtained from library (printed materials, in e-Format) are intended for personal use. Usage of these materials for commercial purposes shall not be allowed;
- A reader is entitled to land books from the library if they are kept in library in more than one exemplar;
- Text books, journals, books, materials, which are necessary for providing any lecture/ practical training in accordance with advance statement of an educational course lecturer, may be lent from the library for 24 hours;
- Books/materials may be lent form the library for one-week period maximum;
- While approaching return date (one week) for materials or books lent from the library, a reader is obliged to return them back to the library;
- A reader can lend the same book/material for another one-week period if there is no other request for that book/material;
- If a reader fails to return material after one week, he/she is obliged to notify the library and explain the reasons;
- The library is entitled to provide return of a book/materials by applying to BNTU administration to take relevant measures or impose a penalty (in case of loss and/or destruction of a book/materials);
- In special cases, the library is entitled to request early return of book/materials. In such case, a reader is obliged to return book//materials back within 24 hours after being notified of it. Such request from the library must be substantiated and notification has to be sent to a reader in due time. In this case, library is obliged to promptly provide copies of pages, indicated by a reader. A reader shall not be entitled to request copy of whole material (in material or electronic form).
3. Loss of lent materials:
- In case of loss of lent book/materials, a reader shall be obliged to provide the library with the analogue or pay amount equal to the cost of that book/material;
- A library employee has the right not to give library materials to persons who are suspected in violation of library regulations, returning dates, loss/destruction of lent books/materials. This rule shall not limit the right of use this material in reading hall.
4. Rules for treating the materials:
- It is inadmissible to fold printed materials or pages or damage them;
- It is inadmissible to glue damaged page/book cover (in case of defect detection, apply to a library staff);
- It is inadmissible to make remarks, comments, underline in a book/pages on printed materials;
- It is inadmissible to use such things instead of book-marker that will do damage to it;
- It is inadmissible to open independently unopened pages (in this case apply to a library staff);
- Upon receiving a book, a reader shall check its usability immediately, on the contrary, he/she will be imposed a penalty for book damage;
- In case of violent treatment or damage to a book (cutting pages, damage and others), a reader is to compensate amount of damaged (destroyed) book, pay a penalty in the amount of a book cost and she/he will have no further access to the BNTU library book collection;
- It is inadmissible to drop electronic disks, leave them in computer and make inscriptions on disks, or act in the manner that will cause/may cause damage of e-carrier. Willful copying, distribution etc. of information shall not be allowed as well;
- While receiving information on e-media (disk, etc.), a reader shall be obliged to check it and take into consideration that a disk will be rechecked while returning to the library. In case of damage to e-media, a reader shall be obliged to provide the library with the analogue or pay amount equal to the cost of that damaged/destroyed material. In case of willful damage, a reader shall forfeit right of use of reader’s card (use BNTU library).
5. A reader is obliged to:
- submit a reader’s card to receive required materials in library or use other library resources. In case of online order, a reader shall be obliged to use personal e-mail, indicated during registration, or utilize corresponding servis of BNTU educational process management system;
- examine books/materials while receiving and in case of defect detection, notify of it to library staff;
- preserve property of the library.
6. Rules of conduct in the library reading hall:
- For proper working process in the library, a reader shall be obliged to keep order;
- After usage of material, it is inadmissible to put it on the shelf without permission (it is required to give material back to a library employee);
- In order to solve any problem, apply to a library staff.
The following is forbidden in the library:
- Taking of cards from catalogues;
- Entering into book depository and/or taking of materials out of reading hall without permission of a library staff;
- Making noise, conversation, extra movement in the reading hall etc.;
- Only carry in of bottled water is permitted in the library;
- Using of mobile phones;
- Hiding, stealing, damaging of printed materials;
- Carry in materials that may damage library collection and/or material resources, or cousing disturbing of other persons in reading hall.
